@tegmark Max, please. I have never claimed that "ChatGPT etc" should be "exempt from the EU AI Act".
I have said that open source AI platforms, such as Llama-2, Mistral, and their exponentially increasing number of derivatives should not be regulated.

Product deployment can be regulated,…

Yann, your claim that exempting ChatGPT etc from the EU AI act is just about rescuing open source is clearly false. Neither Aleph Alpha nor ChatGPT is open source. Rather, ruining the EU AI Act is classic regulatory capture by big tech, which is trying to avoid accountability…

Blatant falsehood from Facebook’s Dr. LeCun.
The French and German governments were lobbied by Mistral, Aleph Alpha, and OpenAI+US Big Tech to block the foundation-model requirements in their entirety, not just to exempt the so-called “open source” models.

The statement '@ylecun @tegmark 🍿🍿🤣🤣' appears to be a lighthearted and possibly humorous reaction to a serious and ongoing debate about AI regulation. The use of popcorn and laughing emojis suggests that the user is treating the exchange between Yann LeCun and Max Tegmark as a form of entertainment. The statement does not directly engage with the content of the debate but rather comments on the dynamic between the individuals involved.
