That’s ridiculous. Cotton was calling for deploying the National Guard to “disperse, detain, and… deter lawbreakers.” You can argue he was disingenuous and really meant to target protesters, or that this wasn’t warranted, but large pluralities of Americans agreed at the time.

@mtaibbi @NTKriss It was far from a legit editorial. Omitted major facts that undermined his thesis. IIRC, things like ignoring it was local gov't calling for the feds to come in, when he was calling for pro-active involvement.

Nobody else would have gotten thinking that shoddy published.
