@RockyRhodes18 Maybe, but that required masses of civil rights violations. Like millions of them (they had over 600,000 stops one year). So, on balance, I’d have preferred some other strategy.

The main impact of stop-and-frisk and strategies like it was to massively increase the number of police contacts, which in turn increases possibility of things going wrong (in addition to prosecution on dumb offenses).

@mtaibbi I think we come to the heart of the matter. There are some studies that show that blacks are not shot, unarmed, by cops much more than whites. But most studies I’ve seen say they are hassled and searched much more often. Think about what that DOES to you.
