you need to learn thousands of years of history and multiple major world religions just to get oriented in the nature of the issues at hand

It’s anything but complex? One side mass-bombs civilians and the other keeps hostages and killed civilians in a terror act. Each time I ask about Palestinian demands I get different answers. At Rutgers protesters shouted “We don’t want two state, we want ‘48.” Is that right?

@mtaibbi I mean, you aren't required to. But the situation is anything but complex, and the notion that this conflict would be seen in the future as somehow confusing or difficult, or that those who remained silent should be viewed favorably, is simply baffling.

The statement '@ProjectVirginia Thank you. That’s what it feels like to me.' is a response in a thread discussing the complexity of a geopolitical issue. The statement itself, however, does not substantively engage with the public issue being discussed but rather expresses a personal sentiment in response to a previous comment. It does not provide analysis, opinion, or a call to action regarding the issue at hand, thus it does not constitute public discourse.
