@mtaibbi The history of the Red Scare indicates @ei2021 is correct, and 1A doesn't even slow them down when they really want to do it. They just manufacture the perception of an emergency and *voila!* "First amendment doesn't protect communism/terrorism/sedition/insert badguy here"

The Twitter Files showed that an elaborate government effort to regulate speech was undertaken without oversight/permission. But things would be worse without the First Amendment — instead of a covert effort to censor through private partners, you’d see more overt controls.
