That’s not on Tom. Reviewers only read and highlighted the parts that validated the idea that Republicans are irrational and unreachable. At the end he brutally excoriated Democrats and predicted future failures:

@mtaibbi I never read the book but seem to remember the takeaway from the discourse on "What's the Matter With Kansas" is that Middle America "votes against their own interests" out of hatred and evil and it was a key point in the elites deciding they didn't have to care.
