@desertrat4039 They can pick someone up now simply for speaking Spanish. You think that’s only a “slightly lower bar?” The vast majority of Latino immigrants in the United States are law abiding people who pay taxes and contribute to the economy. There is no higher level of criminality there

@marwilliamson This so misleading…the police can detain you as well. IF they have a reasonable suspicion…then due process kicks in. The ICE situation is the same, but with a slightly lower bar for detaining someone…that is described in the SCOTUS ruling. Due process has never been what

As of now, anyone can be picked up by an Ice agent just because the Ice agent wants to arrest them. No paperwork needed. No real reason other than that they want to. No due process needed.

In practice, we are now a functioning police state.
