@RonDeSantis @KeyWestRepub I have supported you since day 1 but on this I must resist. Local governments provide essential services. I would rather have 67 tax collectors than 1 huge state tax collector. One day we will not have control and the Democrats will destroy us. Even today with a veto proof

@KeyWestRepub The next step is for the legislature to place the proposal on the ballot and the voters ratify it in November 2026 (need 60% for approval). Property taxes are local, so it requires a constitutional amendment. Can’t be done by ordinary legislation.

@RonDeSantis So what is the next step? I see a lot of talk about this, but no action Let’s go. Maybe do it in phases. Start with the elderly start with first responders. Phase in the other people, with those closest to retirement starting first.

Local property taxes are crushing so many homeowners.

We need to provide relief.

And we need to embrace an important principle: truly owning your own home means your property shouldn’t be a piggy bank for local governments to extract revenue.
