@RonDeSantis The overwhelming majority of revenue for local govts comes from property tax. Police, fire, schools, public works, parks. They can cut a lot, but they can’t totally eliminate. They need to replace a good amount of the property tax revenue. How will they do it? Serious question.

The Florida sales tax rate won’t change at all — the state doesn’t get revenue from property taxes.

In fact, the state’s surplus enables us to backfill fiscally constrained counties and also to help out other localities.

Also, it is a mistake to take as given that local budgets
