@adammcarter @ddsnorth @SRonhai @HazelAppleyard Well, it's an odd thing, because I'm not very keen on the tortured artist trope; generally speaking, I've produced my best work when I've been happiest in my private life, but this particular project is something I go in and out of, and I associate it with troubled times.

@ddsnorth @SRonhai @HazelAppleyard It's not always that. I have a half completed novella on this laptop that I've worked on, on and off, for several years. It's a strange story, and I seem to work on it only in my darker moments. I have no idea whether I'll ever finish it. It simultaneously attracts and repels me.

@jk_rowling @HazelAppleyard Serious question, though... I'm having a hard time finishing mine. This is 2 books now. I've started and stopped about halfway through. Life, distractions, and what-not. How do you see it through? What's the best motivation for you?
