@mcaliente21 @GaryMarcus I mean SORA was presented last month and it's the first video model that looks that consistent and actually usable in production. If that's not exponential vs what was available 3 months ago and a year ago when a model couldn't even make fingers right in still images...

@GaryMarcus Nothing has exponentially improved? They can make you an image of anything you want. A year ago it was just text. Tomorrow it will be voice.

No, we are not currently in a period of exponential growth.

GPT-4 is over a year old; nothing has exponentially improved upon it, despite an entire extremely well-capitalized industry trying.

There was a great jump; now there is perhaps a plateau.

@GaryMarcus @theinformation I get what you're saying and I don't even necessarily disagree. I'm just saying that the tech from then to now is at least an order of magnitude better than it was.

This growth is still happening exponentially. If it's not good enough today, it very well could be tomorrow.
