@GaryMarcus iā€™m aware of that. but i also know Elonā€™s history. SpaceX & Tesla are his babies. he didnā€™t give up on them during their darkest days. he wonā€™t give up on Tesla coz Elon doesnā€™t give up. give FSD a try then imagine it getting better by orders of magnitude in a couple of years.

@GaryMarcus IMHO, your conjecture is wrong. but hey, iā€™m biased coz iā€™m long $TSLA since IPO šŸ˜… but also the recent FSD version look promising. Tesla is Elonā€™s baby. he will not let it be left behind.

@SawyerMerritt Ethan is very talented, but ā€œvision chiefā€ would be overstating things.

There are over 200 excellent engineers in the Tesla AI/Autonomy team. Teslaā€™s pace of progress with autonomy is accelerating.

The talent war for AI is the craziest talent war Iā€™ve ever seen!

Conjecture: Elon has given up on Tesla.

He once said that ā€œSolving self-driving was the difference between Tesla being worth a lot of money and being worth basically zeroā€

And now he has just let the vision lead at the FSD project walk out the door, without matching comp. Heā€¦

not a vote of confidence from Elon in FSD leading to fleets of robotaxis any time soon. sounds like he has all but given up.

if he thought that was imminent, he would match the compensation.
