@lumpenspace @GaryMarcus You're mistaken. Marcus has never been against connectionism (neural nets). In fact, his proposal is called Neurosymbolic AI.

Gary Marcus is gaining a reputation as the prophet of the age of AI. He's been calling it correctly for decades. But he's like a voice crying in the wilderness because the AI community and AI venture capitalists have doggedly refused to listen to his predictions. Too bad.

Exactly ten years ago today at NYT, @ernestsdavis and I warned about the “echo chamber effect” of AI contamination.

If only people had listened. We’re deep in it now.
