@realohtweets The system is failing right now. Academy can’t compete, new ideas can’t flourish. We have a monoculture that is not healthy.

@GaryMarcus I am sure some alternative paradigm will give us the next breakthrough but there are dozens — maybe hundreds depending on how you count — of such paradigms. You can’t spend $100mm on each just yet till you work them out. That’s what academia is for.

If anyone wants to put up $1B, I am happy to lead the effort.

My impression though is that no VC is bold enough to give serious funding to anything that isn’t firmly in the current paradigm, despite increasing signs of trouble.

@GaryMarcus I'm skeptical that this is true - but if it is, why wouldn't you get a billion dollars or so in seed funding and start a company that can make an actually successful, working, and trustable AI?
