@DeryaTR_ @GaryMarcus There are some rough ideas, but I won't say anyone really understands consciousness. The really interesting thing is whether you need consciousness to have empathy, as that could be important to safe intelligent systems.

@GaryMarcus How can you guide something into something that you don't understand? Perhaps AI might help us understand what consciousness is. I also think it cannot be achieved without a biological substrate, but according to Hinton, chatbots have already achieved sentience… !

Terrible idea.

It also makes no sense.
- You don’t need consciousness for knowledge.
- We already are conscious beings. We don’t need AI’s help for that.
- It is not clear why conscious AI’s would be a better guide. Wikipedia and Khan Academy are great guides already without…
