@GaryMarcus I just copied that from a google search.. but the key phrase which is patently wrong "the conjecture that every aspect of learning or any other feature of intelligence can IN PRINCIPLE be so PRECISELY DESCRIBED that a machine can be made to simulate it". WRONG!

@IntuitMachine you literally cut off the next sentence (except for the word we) for no reason at all, “We think that a significant advance can be made in one or more of these problems if a carefully selected group of scientists work on it together for a summer.”

@IntuitMachine incorrect. Minsky did assign vision (not all of AI) to Sussman as a summer project. Whether he expected Sussman to succeed is another question.

The Dartmouth Summer School proposal certainly didn’t promise to solve all of AI in a summer. They promised progress, not completion.

Anyone old enough to remember how at first calculators were hyped as being conscious, intelligent AGI-like beings that would displace humanity?

Oh wait, that never happened. People used to be more sensible.
