@JimDMiller there would be such a huge economic gain to being decisively better, lasting fame, enormous market boost etc, that i find this implausible. eg imagine what would happen to Google’s stock price if they blew GPT-4 out of the water?

@GaryMarcus Gas stations across the street from each other often charge the exact same price each figuring if it cuts price by a few pennies, the other will just price match. Might something similar be happening here but in terms of quality competition?
