One reason for this is that much of the population are like insecure but loyal children, hoping that someday their dysfunctional parents will truly nurture and protect them. Government re-plays the role of dysfunctional parent when people are not secure, mature adults.

The establishment has an extraordinary ability to guarantee that nothing will fundamentally change. What’s even more extraordinary is the gullibility of those it manipulates to carry out its directives.
