@WSJEditorials What about Harris? Her initial message has been focused on democracy, just as Biden's was. But there is a lot of evidence that this message plays much better with committed Democrats than undecideds. Undecideds don't seem worked up about democracy.

Trump arguably did at the start of his convention speech, but he then went into a rambling, self-centered talk -- the longest convention speech on record! -- that seemed aimed at his base, not the persuadable middle. He's continued the theme since the convention.
