@marwilliamson Politics has always been harsh in America Marianne. If the discourse has become emotionally unsafe that is more of a reflection of our thin skin than the level of discourse. Now that we are all engaged in the discussion, not just stinky old white men, some are more unsettled.

I grew up in a home where all the aunts and uncles and cousins had breakfast together on Sunday morning.

This would be a common conversation:
