@marwilliamson Competitive sport shooting is a thing & there are millions of responsible kids who learn amazing life lessons from it.

No *mentally unwell* 14 year old in a horrible living situation with irresponsible and neglectful parents should be given a gun.

@marwilliamson There is absolutely nothing wrong with that when your child is normal, responsible 14 year old. Shooting for sport or hunting is a great activity.

In this case, the kid was not normal at all. The father was an utter moron. That word isn't strong enough, actually.

What kind of parent gives their 14 year old son a rifle for Christmas?

Parents in Michigan were convicted for providing the gun to their son who committed a school shooting. Now Georgia is doing the same. I hope every state will follow suit.
