The incoming fire was too intense; their radio broken. The five soldiers stuck in the truck decided to make a mad dash for safety.

SGT Vernon Martin was killed before he could make it to safety.

Another one of those 3 was SGT Christopher Griffin. He also didn't survive the mission.

One of those 3 was SGT Joshua Hardt, 24. The last anyone heard of Hardt he was on the radio saying the Taliban had a gun pointed right at him.
