@marwilliamson A bourgeois democracy’s primary function is to serve capital! It doesn’t have a responsibility to its people, especially when the people themselves refuse to take actions into their hands to wrestle concessions from them.

To support a war, they’ll provide emergency funding in 24 hrs. To provide supplemental aid to hurricane victims, GOP House Speaker needs to “tabulate damages first.”

That’s not “fiscal responsibility”. It’s failure of govt to live up to its responsibility at all.

Speaker Mike Johnson will NOT be calling the House back early to vote on a disaster aid supplemental in the wake of the Hurricane.

He tells me the cost of damages has to be “tabulated” before a supplemental is considered and he argued they are a ways away from that. Congress…
