But it's dishonest to frame this as some kind of scam dating back to the founding, and it's particularly nonsense to do so while founding a competitor.

The situation here is that right now a nonprofit controls unfathomably valuable resources and it is the board's obligation by law to arrive at a fair price for those, and there are a lot of factors which create pressure to undervalue them.

I'm watching the OpenAI for-profit conversions closely and I'm not at all persuaded that they're going to arrive at a fair price for buying out the nonprofit (a true fair price would be really really high!), but it really does look like Elon's complaints are bad faith.
