2. I prefer calculators and databases etc that are more transparent.
3. If we can’t do better alignment will remain a mess

Completely disagree with the opening premise of this thread from @openai’s @yonashav that imminent AGI is plausible— but very much agree with him that we need to get technical alignment right.

Not at all sure that is possible in a substrate of black box LLMs.
