@wudlig @GaryMarcus I’m still trying to determine Gary’s foundation. I agree on much of his predictions but he comes off more as intuitive than fundamental.

@OntologicalMax @GaryMarcus Dreyfus did address neural networks a little, he has a portion on it in the updated version of wccd, but mostly to say that they are more promising than gofai, although still limited in certain ways. Dreyfus would probably be at odds with gary in a few ways.

@OntologicalMax @GaryMarcus Dreyfus is critiquing 'GOFAI' aka symbolic AI, which has very little to do with the recent neural network boom, almost the opposite. gofai attempted to create models of the world using explicitly defined, hand-made symbolic logic.
