@mtaibbi Latin did not evolve. It has strict rules, granmar and vocabulary. It's not dead either. Either the word means what it means, or it's just not the same word. Just like 2 + 2 can only be equal to 4.

Well, that’s not true, language constantly evolves. It’s part of what makes it interesting. Changes tend to be democratic, too, i.e. usages shift only when most people adopt the new meaning. And words can be synonymous without being exactly the same thing, as is the case here.
