@SteveMiran @paulkrugman The more you watch this, the more embarrassing it is for @paulkrugman , who says, " There's no indication that there's any deeper agenda... everything is back-filled [in] to rationalize what they're doing." Krugman appears completely unaware of @SteveMiran "guide." Incredible..

Trump Chair of the Council of Economic Advisors @SteveMiran published this "User’s Guide to Restructuring the Global Trading System" last November. It makes clear that Trump should use tariffs to gain leverage in negotiations.

The Trump tariffs had no purpose, many said. But Treasury @SecScottBessent & Chair of CEA @SteveMiran had made clear tariffs were to force a negotiation. And now, six days after Liberation Day, it's worked: the EU, UK, and Japan are among the 70 nations now negotiating.
