@GaryMarcus @Clock7303 It's an interesting one because I think ♟️ programs are quite finely balanced between the old fashioned kind and neural network based ones. Either can easily beat most humans. But for Go the neural network approach was a breakthrough.

@Clock7303 deep blue wasn’t a neural network.

afaik/per Wiki stockfish uses a neural net as a component, but still uses a modified version of classical symbolic tree search on top.

@GaryMarcus As far as I am aware this technology doesn’t exist yet and you need a different neural net to do chess.

Think stockfish or even deep blue.
