@GaryMarcus The difference is that biological weapons are "only" destructive and have zero commercial value whereas the potential yield of AGI is so unimaginable gigantic that under capitalism it is inevitable that it will be tapped into one way or another either way.

@GaryMarcus Everyone’s scared, but no one wants to be left behind. If one speeds up, the rest have to. Slowing down makes you lose. That pressure makes AGI come faster, even IF no one actually wanted that.

This applies not only between companies but also between nations. No one can stop it.
