@GaryMarcus Obviously speculative and it a lot could go badly.

But I'm thinking education. If you talk to kids I think the majority of them start out loving learning and curious, and it is usually knocked out of them by poor schooling.

I learned calculus at ~8 years old, not necessarily because I was so different from many children but because my mother cultivated a love for learning and gave me resources and encouragement in math, a subject I happened to love at that age.

This is the central problem with higher education in the age of AI.

We can't require students to do take-home writing assignments (e.g. term papers) any more, because most will cheat and have ChatGPT or Claude or Grok do the writing.

But we can't teach critical thinking,
