But because it was so “easy” to reverse engineer, the home market got a boost with PC clones, so that to a large degree, I could take my program floppy to another clone/brand and run it there. Because they all ran MS-DOS. So MS was part of the PC revolution, at least.

@GaryMarcus @gradybooch Yes, it does seem that Microsoft has changed a lot of history here since it was IBM that made & dubbed their microprocessor-based computer, the Personal Computer, Microsoft just made the O/S. There were other microprocessor-based computers, but IBM was the first to call it a PC.

Say what? What a strange and inaccurate rewriting of history.

Microsoft didn’t invent the Personal Computer, not at all. Altair, Apple, Heathkits, so many early players.
