@GaryMarcus IBM is running tv ads saying that its Watson Asst. (that's assistant, not ass) understands customer requests "with 90% accuracy." Note that this isn't even 90% of the time. It's 90% of a request. And they're implying that this is acceptable and the software is deployable.

GPT-5 is vastly more likely to keep making occasional stupid errors than it is to solve safety and misuse.

My estimates:

Probability that GPT-5 continues to regularly make stupid errors: > 99%

Probability that GPT-5 solves safety and misuse: <0.1%

This is the rhetorical sleight of hand these guys absolutely love to do. He brushes aside and trivializes the “safety” and “misuse” problems and assumes they are imminently solvable—ie problems that exist today and have no solutions—because it’s much more fun to do sci-fi fantasy

The statement 'Can you send a link to any?' is a simple request for additional information or evidence. It does not engage substantively with public issues, debates, or discussions that contribute to civic dialogue. It is a direct response to a specific claim made in a conversation thread and does not address broader societal issues or policies.
