Not hiring on the basis of merit will cause catastrophic failures in literally every other domain:

Airline pilots, passengers will die in crashes; surgeons, patients will die in surgery; engineers, drivers will die in collapses.

Anyone surprised by this is an idiot.

DEI didn't hurt the LA Fire Department's response to the catastrophic fires, say the media. But anything that trumps meritocratic standards would. And now, whistleblowers within LAFD say the Department lowered standards on ladders, hoses & push-ups to meet DEI quotas for women.
