This is shameful. Embarrassing. Criminal. We can’t lead on high level policy making and moralizing on values in this era while we govern over this shameful mess in the lives of folks who deserve dignity in aging. Blue city leaders need to wake up.

Both elevators have been broken at a 7-story, 75-unit building for low-income seniors in DC since *December 9*. They won't be repaired until mid-Feb at earliest. "Residents have struggled to make for medical appointments...Some have asked city firefighters to carry them down."
