@GaryMarcus @ezraklein I mean, sure, AGI may he far off or not achievable. But I wouldn’t discount any possibility that they are right, which is the point of preparing for multiple scenarios.

@emollick @ezraklein They also need to consider the possibility that it is false; Ezra, who I usually love, fell short in that regard.

I wish more people were taking seriously the possibility that @ezraklein and the leadership of the AI labs are raising: that AGI is a real possibility in the near future.

You don't have to buy it yourself, but leaders & policymakers need to consider the possibility it is true.
