@GaryMarcus Not that I really believe in school, but I’m pretty sure this can be solved by altering curricula. If you’re a teacher quitting because of ChatGPT you are probably not a great teacher. There’s an opportunity to create software that facilitates AI use while allowing for assessment

I too am finding it increasingly hard to see GenAI as a net positive as a society.

And what’s more, all of the costs are being borne by society, not those who make and distribute GenAI.

Yeah this sucks and I really do believe it may outweigh any social benefits of widely available LLMs. It will take years and years to figure out what to do about this.
