@skdh social media has really exacerbated this by moving the debate from the halls of academia where there were norms to a place that lacks basic standards of sound argument.

@GaryMarcus I'm very sorry to see this is happening. I think you express yourself very carefully and people just create strawman arguments they can easily dismiss. The exact same thing has happened (is still happening) to me, on different matters.
