I met Lou when he was working on pieces for The Post about Nevada’s 1998 Senate race that Harry Reid nearly lost. We became friendly and he offered to read a draft of my book about NV politics. He was a gentle, firm and invaluable critic.

A legend in our business.

RIP.

RIP Lou Cannon, the legendary White House reporter and Reagan biographer whose multiple books set the gold standard and remain the most textured and sophisticated portraits of our 40th president. He was also endlessly supportive of those who followed him. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/12/…
