@GaryMarcus Is there any major general-purpose task that you can reliably give to an AI and have it do it? Like something that would take a person a couple of days? I think you underestimate how awesome these models are but you are 100% right about the bar.

Who is moving the goalposts? In an essay called Dear Elon Musk, I laid out clear criteria for AGI in May 2022. At the time the Twitter community - and the people who invented the term — agreed the criteria were fair.

NONE of the tests I laid out have been solved.

sometimes, the term "AGI" feels pointless

WHY?

with the insane level of progress daily, it already seems like AGI has been achieved.

- it doesn’t have a clear definition
- we keep shifting the goalpost

so maybe what we're now calling AGI is actually ASI?
